The children love a challenge! This one was to build a comfy mattress of leaves in the woods that we could fit all the children on. It was good fun collecting the leaves with our arms and kicking them along with our feet. It’s a lovely time of the year to be out in the open, with all the Autumn colours to enjoy. The children spotted leaves that were orange, brown, yellow, red, black, pink, white….
Meanwhile, back at Pre-school we have been hosting “show and tell” again where the children are encouraged to bring from home an interesting item to show the group and talk about. We have had a tractor, cars, baby dolls, a panda, a unicorn, a meerkat superhero, a string puppet and many more. The children ask questions and clap the presentation, learning to be a good audience.
Wednesday children make with food every week. Last Wednesday they were constructing edible faces. In previous weeks the children made banana muffins and cheese tarts. It’s all good practice for the future! We could have a number of budding chefs in our setting.. The children also love to cook outdoors. At the mud kitchen, chocolate buns had just come out of the oven and then were very generously shared around!
There’s always a new friend to meet at Pre-school. We were fascinated to dig up “Horace” who was living under the soil with his friends, the worms. One of us became so fond of him that it was sad to leave him behind when it was home time. However, a nice home was found for him in the trunk of a tree where he could live happily until we return to the Mud Kitchen.
